Do I need to use Pods?
For the swims that are on platforms you do really need pods, (or screw in bank stick holders). This winter, we have replaced and/or enlarged the platforms. Most are now over 16ft wide and 16ft long, so there is loads of room and they are very stable.
Are Boats allowed?
Bait boats are allowed. We also have 2 small boats that can be used at anglers own risk (life jackets on site). The lake is not a deep water but between 3/5ft right across and being an old peat lake that dates back to the 1700’s, it has a very silty bottom.
Are there any charging facilities on site?
We have no mains electricity on site. We run all our lights for the bungalow/toilet from solar panels/battery’s etc. For charging bait boats etc. we have generators which are very easy to use.
We provide a full tank of petrol free and there is a local garage a 2 minute drive away if customers need to buy themselves more fuel.
Does the lake have a silty bottom?
Yes. (See question 2). Light leads recommended. (1.5/2oz). Pop up’s are worth a go too.
Is the lake weedy?
Not a problem. The lily pads when fully up are strong so care needs to be taken when fishing to the pads. Remember to use clutch adjustment/bait runner adjustment etc..
What are the best baits to use?
All main line baits work well. Maple 8s/active 8s are a “regular winner” and squid based also seem to be working well recently. Tiger nuts are banned and all “pulses” etc must be “pre-prepared” on arrival.
Is there a Freezer available on site?
We do not have a freezer on site at this time. We have a small gas fridge for basics (i.e. milk/bacon etc.).
Are there kitchen facilities at Etoile?
Yes there are. There is a gas cooker/small gas fridge/table chairs/all cutlery/pots and pans/plates etc. on site.
Are there any local amenities?
The local village is less than a minute’s drive away. There is a supermarket, bakers, bar, small “French based” tackle shop and a cash machine/bank.
Can you supply directions to Etoile Lake?
For directions/map, go to the “Find Us” page on the website and print of a map/directions etc. The A16 is a toll road so you will need a few Euro’s etc. When you come off at junction 21 you will see a barrier in front of you. Pull up and stop on the left well before the barrier, get out of the car, walk to the paying machine and pay the toll to receive your ticket. Then drive to the barrier and insert your ticket. Then simply drive through. At this point you are less than 10 minutes from the lake.
What are the Arrival/Departures times?
As shown on the “Prices” page, anglers will be able to access the lake from midday on the day of their arrival. We ask that anglers leave by 10am on the day of their departure. For short breaks, i.e. Saturday to Tuesday, the arrival time is as above but the departure time is 5pm.)

Where does the Shower water come from?
Fresh water is fed to the showers from an underground water table, and not from the lake!
